Dear NUT Kwara State Wing SWEC members, I am directed to inform you all and through you to our teachers in TESCOM and SUBEB, that the contentious ₦1, 000.00 *deducted from the October,2024 salaries of our teachers and called SPECIAL UNION DEDUCTION*, was *ILLEGALLY done by the State Leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kwara State Council (without any consultation with its Organs or it's affiliated Unions*).
Arising from the above therefore, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kwara State Wing and other affiliates of the NLC have demanded that the said sums deducted, should be refunded to the workers *without delays*.
As per the other observations made with regard to the new minimum wage, the Union is working hand-in-hand with the Labour Centres and concerned government MDAs' to establish the true position of things and find solutions ASAP.
I am further directed to passionately apologize to our teeming members for the unnecessary provocations which the issues of the new minimum wage implementation and the unauthorized ₦1, 000.00 deductions have generated and to ask for calm/patience while the Union transparently works towards their resolutions.
