The Edo State hon. Commissioner for Education held a stakeholder meeting with public primary and secondary school Union leaders

..... As NUT remarks focuses on Educating every Edo child, reviewing of school closing time and school leadership by seniority.

The meeting of the hon. Commissioner for Education Dr. Paddy Iyamu with public primary and secondary schools Union leaders Monday 3rd February 2025 at Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Benin City.

The hon commissioner remarks focuses on the need to educate every Edo child and solicit for meaningful contributions from the teachers

The chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers Edo State Wing com. Bernard Gbenga Ajobiewe on his remarks was in solidarity with the hon. Commissioner for every Edo child to be well educated. He added the need to revisit and review the school closing time from 2:45pm to 1:45pm. Also emphasizes the important of school heads by seniority.

Other point of remarks by ANCOPS, ASUSS, APSHON are the need to reconstitute the CIE offices in the 18 local government in Edo State. Shortage of teachers and the needs to consider Edostar and community teachers for employment to fill the vacancies. The rebuilding of dilapidated structures, perimeter fence and security personnel in every school. Total remover of inter cadre and promotions for teachers as at when due.

The hon. Commissioner for Education Dr. Paddy Iyamu on his response has promised to look into all points raised as soon as possible for the betterment of every Edo child. And from next week teachers will start hearing good news on some of the vitals issues raised. He said there will be no more mass promotions for our pupils/students. Any child who fail in a particular class should repeat such class. On the issue of Edostar, he said they will be considered but they are going to be tested because there will be no automatic employment for them. On the issue of school leadership by seniority, he said it will be look into but competency cannot be left out.


In rounding up the meeting,  the hon commissioner promised to specially reward the most outstanding teachers from the 3 senatorial district in Edo State
