As I embark on this journey to represent the good people of Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode Federal Constituency, I am reminded that I will undoubtedly face challenges and criticisms. Just like a tree with sweet and succulent fruits, that will attract stones, insults, and wounds from cutlasses. People may even climb on the Tree to pluck the fruits, like the very Tree, I will remain resolute, standing tall to serve humanity and my Constituents without fear or favour.

My commitment to my constituents today remains unwavering. My priority areas include addressing insecurity, improving education and Sports, and developing infrastructure.

I want to assure my great people that, I have come to the National Assembly to change the narratives. I have come to give to my constituency what they have been lacking for a long time. Yes, my predecessors have done well, but it is my goal to do better. I want to attract the dividends of democracy to my constituency.

I want to give them my time. I want to be having a town hall meeting with my people every quarter. I want to be the first to do that in my constituency. I want them to really tell me what they want because I believe you give water to the thirsty and food to the hungry, and not the other way round.

The issue of insecurity is a major concern. We need to take care of the insecurity that we are having in the rural areas of the country. That is going to be my first task. We have laws pertaining to insecurity already, but I need to see why they are not working.

We also need to address the issue of education Sport. Our kids are moving to the city to get a quality education. What happens? The implications of that are that when they start moving out of their place, who’s now going to come to the place? We need to bring quality education to our constituencies so that we can prepare and raise young leaders who will take over from us.

Infrastructure development is also crucial. We are mostly rural, and we still suffer from a lack of development. I want to attract projects to my constituency because they need them more than the urban areas.

I am committed to making a positive impact and leaving a lasting legacy. I will not be deterred by obstacles, and I will continue to work tirelessly for the benefit of my constituents.

Hon. Chief (Dr) Billy Famous Adesuwa Osawaru, member representing Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode Federal Constituency and Obazuhunwa of Benin Kingdom.
