Governor Okpebholo set to deliver 100 schools in 3 weeks in celebration of 100 days in office. See the schools

The Executive Chairman of Edo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Barr Mrs Onomen Goodness Briggs, has disclosed that  Governor Monday Okpebholo is undertaking the execution of 100 primary and junior secondary school projects across the 18 Local Government Areas in the 3 senatorial districts of the state.

The Chairman also assured that the projects which are in various stages of completion, will be fully delivered within a timeline of three weeks in celebration of Governor Okpebholo 100 days in office.

Briggs made the disclosure while speaking with journalists shortly after rounding off the inspection to project sites in Oredo and Egor Local Government Areas on Monday.

The inspection team visited Ebo Primary School, Ebo-Iyekogba (construction of a new block of 6 classrooms and office); Ore-Oghene Primary School (construction of a new block of 4 classrooms and renovation of a block of 5 classrooms) - both in Benin City.

Other schools visited by the Executive Chairman include Evbareke Junior Secondary School (renovation of a block of 6 classrooms, including office, stores and toilet facilities); Useh Junior School, Useh (renovation of a block of 6 classrooms) and Okhokhugbo Primary School, Okhokhugbo ( renovation of a block of 6 classrooms) - all located in Egor Local Government Area).

According to the Executive Chairman, "we are looking at the completion of all the school projects within the next one, two or three weeks maximum, depending on the stages of work done so far".

She added that the reconstructed and renovated schools would be provided with furniture (tables/desks) to aid effective teaching and learning. 

On vandalization, Briggs revealed that the state government was working out plans to ensure safety and security of school facilities across the state, with the erection of perimeter fence and building of security posts/engagement of security personnel. 

She emphasized that plans were also underway to sensitize community leaders, school based management committee (SBMC)members and other critical stakeholders in the school system to take ownership of schools in their localities, while ensuring protection of properties and facilities in their various schools. 

The Chairman was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Board Member representing Edo South, Hon Pst Mrs Angela Ekiuwa Okpamen, Director Schools Support Services, Dr Austin Osegbe, Director Projects & Physical Planning, Engr Martins Amune, including staff of schools department and other projects officials.
