Egor Local Government, Edo State – The All Progressives Congress (APC) Egor local government chapter recently hosted a spirited event to celebrate one of its distinguished sons, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu, on his appointment as the Commissioner for Information and Communication by the Edo State Governor, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo. The ceremony, which witnessed an impressive turnout, was a testament to the respect and admiration held for Ohonbamu within the party and the local community.

The event attracted a vibrant assembly of APC party leaders, including the local government leadership, state working committee members, ward leaders, and representatives from the ten political wards constituting the Egor Local Government Area. Notable government dignitaries were also present, such as the deputy Chief of Staff to the State Governor Hon Pius Alile Idele, Hon Osarobo Idehen APC State Organizing Secretary, Mr Benson Edosomwan APC Edo South Senatorial Vice Chairman, Hon Adaze Emwanta SA to the Governor on legal matters,  Mr Osaro Eribo who represented the APC LGA Chairman, APC Ward leaders, LGA Party Executives and Ward Executives,  Acting Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Dr. Kelvin Eguakun, and the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Zion Osawaru Evbuomwan, among others.

The festivities weren't limited to speeches; cultural theater groups entertained guests, enriching the atmosphere with local traditions and performances, which highlighted the unity and cultural heritage of the Egor community.

As the ceremony progressed, Hon. Pius Alile Idele, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, took to the floor to recount Ohonbamu’s remarkable journey. Alile highlighted Ohonbamu’s educational background, from attending Edaiken Primary School through to Eghosa and Ekiadolor Grammar Schools, culminating in his Bachelor of Law from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in 1993. He emphasized Ohonbamu’s dedication to civil society advocacy, detailing his political ascent that began with his election to the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) in 2007, where he served notable roles including Minority Leader and Deputy Speaker.

In his address, Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the party leaders and members for their unwavering support throughout his political career. He assured attendees that Governor Okpebholo will reward the dedication of all who contributed to the party’s electoral triumph. In a poignant promise, he declared, “Never will the food meant for the children be given to the dogs,” a statement reinforcing his commitment to advocate for the interests of the party's members and supporters.

Ohonbamu urged the party faithful to embrace unity, highlighting the need for collective effort in fostering an atmosphere of peace and development in both Egor Local Government and Edo State. He personally reached out to various leaders across the local government to ensure alignment towards common goals and initiatives that will guide the APC and the state toward enhanced governance.

A notable highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of cash empowerment to 20 indigent party members by Rt Hon Paul N.Ohonbamu even though he hasn't received his first salary, a gesture that underscores the APC's commitment to uplifting its grassroots supporters. This significant act not only expresses gratitude to loyal party members but also addresses immediate economic needs in the community.

The celebration of Rt. Hon.
