As the Edo State 2024 Gubernatorial election petitions Tribunal continues sitting in the National Judicial Institute (NJI) Abuja, notable All Progressives Congress (APC) Leaders and party bigwigs have continued to make appearances in solidarity with His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo and the APC whose victory is been contested.
This court appearance underscores a unity of purpose within the party and highlights a shared commitment to defend the mandate freely given to Sen. Monday Okpebholo and the APC by the good people of Edo State through legal means.
Amongst dignitaries who were present at Saturday's Tribunal sitting were His Excellency, former deputy governor of Edo State and Edo South APC Leader, Rt. Hon. Pius Odubu, The Majority Leader of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, and the Honourable member representing the good people of Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode federal constituency at the green chambers of the National Assembly, Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru.
Others include the former deputy governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Imasuen, and former Edo State Commissioner, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Saturday Uwuilekhue.
In a chat with the Press, Hon. Billy Osawaru expressed satisfaction with the proceedings of the tribunal and lauded the idea of moving the sittings to Abuja. He added that it is only in this clime that people, in a show of infantile grandstanding, tend to challenge a clear victory as freely given at the polls. Recalling his time at the House of Reps 2023 tribunal and it's wasteful nature, he expressed confidence that Sen. Okpebholo, the people's Governor will emerge victorious stressing that Leaders of the APC are United and are solidly behind him. He promised to always make out time to attend the tribunal sittings.
The distinguished leaders and others too numerous to mention watched in amusement as the Counsels of the Petitioner, Asue Ighodaro of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), labouriously struggled to present their case like a man cycling a rickety bicycle up a very steep hill. So far, the odds are stacked firmly against the petitioners as they, alongside their numerous witnesses, have not been able to prove their case as alleged.
The Justice Wilfred Kpochi-led tribunal continues sitting.
