HON. CHIEF DR. BILLY OSAWARU CELEBRATES WITH THE NLC WOMEN COMMITTEE AT THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT

HON. CHIEF DR. BILLY OSAWARU CELEBRATES WITH THE NLC WOMEN COMMITTEE AT THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT. 


Benin City.

The honorable member representing the good people of Orhionmwon Uhunmwode federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru and a Patron to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Women's Committee Edo State led by Com. Mrs Osabuohien Philomena celebrated with Edo women on an International Women's Day program organized by the NLC women's committee Edo State. 

The event which took place at the Edo State labor house, Teboga junction, Ikpoba hill, Benin City, Edo State had in attendance distinguished women and dignitaries from all walks of life 

In his goodwill message, Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru, who was honorably represented by Comrade Evbaziegbere Daudu Edorodion, a distinguished Labour Leader, harped on the theme of the 2025 International Women's Day Celebration, "Accelerate Action Towards Gender Equality." Hon. Osawaru said for gender equality to be realized, the actions must start with the women and commended the NLC Women wing for organizing the program, noting that it is a step in the right direction. He added that they must be active participants to get the needed support from the men.

He said that accelerating actions for gender equality requires a collective effort across government, civil society, the private sector, traditional institutions, community leaders, men and women, etc. As patron of the NLC Women's Committee, he pledged more support and continuous sponsorship of the NLC Women's Committee activities and proposed course of action. He concluded by congratulating the women on the occasion of the International Women's Day celebration and wished them all the best in their future endeavors as a committee. 

The Edo State Chairperson, Com. Osabuohien Philomena, in her address, appreciated the patron, Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Famous Osawaru, for his sponsorship over the years. "Our dear and lovely patron, Chief Dr. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru, I can't thank you enough for your continued support over the years. You have been sponsoring our events year in and year out, uwese Baba". She concluded. 

The month of March has been declared as International Women's Month to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of women globally, while the eighth day in March yearly is International Women's Day. It has been a month of different activities and organized events to mark the month and celebrate the power of the woman.
