EDO STATE FORESTRY COMMISSION SEIZES LOGS, WARNS AGAINST ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES


Benin City, Edo State - The Edo State Forestry Commission has seized several trucks loaded with logs and wood in Udo Community, Ovia South-West Local Government Area.

The Chairman  of the Commission Hon. Valentine Owamagbe Asuen, who inspected the seized trucks, called on stakeholders in the forestry sector, fringe communities within the forest reserve and the general public to desist from encroaching on or illegally falling trees within the forest reserves.

Hon. Asuen emphasized the need to adhere to the state government's policy aimed at restoring degraded forest reserves, warning that any violation of the forestry laws would be met with severe consequences.

He reiterated the commitment of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo towards protecting the state's forest reserves, stressing that the government would not tolerate any form of illegal activity that threatens the environment.

The seizure is part of the Commission's efforts to enforce the state's forest laws and protect its natural resources. The Commission has vowed to continue monitoring the state's forest reserves and taking action against those who violate the law.
