Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Clarifies the Termination of Contract with New Globe

This was revealed in a public statement released from Edo SUBEB on 3rd June 2025, signed by the board chairman Hon. Omonzane Ebanehita Sonia.

Following the official termination of the partnership between the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and New Globe, it has become necessary to provide clarity to the public on the reasons behind this decision.

The disengagement was not sudden. It followed several meetings, including a key town hall on 6th December 2024, where clear directives were issued to New Globe to begin a proper transition process. Unfortunately, those directives were not honoured.

Despite being contracted to support lesson content development and the establishment of the Basic Education Management Information System (BEMIS), New Globe failed to deliver on both fronts. Schools repeatedly requested access to the lesson content, but it was never provided. The promised BEMIS platform, which attracted a significant financial commitment, remains incomplete and has not been handed over to the Board.

New Globe also failed to train SUBEB staff to manage the BEMIS system, nor did they migrate any data to the Board’s data warehouse as stipulated. Collaboration with key technical officers from SUBEB was minimal, and in many cases, non-existent.

Furthermore, the firm’s refusal to share tools and systems—citing intellectual property claims prevented SUBEB from taking over or adapting these resources. 

It became clear that New Globe was stalling the transition process, likely to extend its engagement until the end of the year. After years of underperformance, unmet obligations, and poor collaboration, SUBEB has taken the necessary step to terminate the contract in the interest of the state's education sector.
