Hon. Iredia Aligns with Governor Okpebholo’s Healthcare Vision, Flags Off National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) in Uhunmwode LGA.

In practical alignment with the healthcare vision of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, the Executive Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Hon. Iredia Benjamin Osa's, has officially flagged off the National Immunization Plus Days 2 (NIPDs2) campaign across Uhunmwode Local Government Area.
This house-to-house immunization drive, targeting children aged 0–5 years, will cover schools, churches, mosques, and Markets with fixed posts at the primary health centers across the LGA. The initiative is being executed by the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) in partnership with key global health organizations including UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
The flag-off event, held at Arousa Primary School, Azagba, signals the commencement of the immunization exercise scheduled to run from June 28 to July 3, 2025.
Speaking on behalf of the Council boss at the ceremony, the delectable wife of the Hon. Iredia, Mrs. Esther Iredia, underscored the critical role of immunization in preventing vaccine-preventable diseases and reducing childhood morbidity. She reiterated her husband's commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery and safeguarding the health of children across the LGA.
“Polio remains a highly infectious disease and a leading cause of paralysis in children under 15. Oral polio vaccination is not just necessary, it is essential. I urge all parents, guardians, and caregivers to ensure their children and wards are immunized during this program,” she said.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic vaccination of pupils by Mrs. Esther Iredia, marking the official commencement of immunization activities across the LGA.
Dignitaries in attendance at the event included Dr. Ezomo, Medical Officer of Health for Uhunmwode LGA; Mrs. Stella Omoruyi Izekor, Local Government Immunization Officer; Ms. Favour Nwabor, Health Educator; Comrade Evbaziegbere Daudu Edorodion, Head Teacher of Arousa Primary School, Azagba; Mr. Eric Ogbemudia, Okaighele of Azagba Community; and several other notable stakeholders.
