UHUNMWODE IN SAFE HANDS AS COUNCIL CHAIRMAN, HON. IREDIA BENJAMIN OSA’S, PRESIDES OVER STRATEGIC SECURITY MEETING


In a proactive move to tackle the growing security challenges confronting Uhunmwode Local Government Area, the Council Chairman, Hon. Benjamin Osa's Iredia, on July 17, 2025 presided over a high level Strategic Security Meeting at the council headquarters.

The meeting, which brought together critical security stakeholders, was convened to chart a comprehensive and community driven approach to combating the menace of insecurity threatening lives and livelihoods across the local government.

In his opening address, the Chairman, expressed deep concern over recent security breaches in some parts of the local government, acknowledging the hardship and fear being experienced by residents.

“We feel the pain of our people, we see their challenges too. We also sympathise with the victims that have been affected, we are more committed to ensuring that Uhunmwode is safe and secure for all, including travellers along the corridor of our local government”, the Chairman said.

Present at the meeting were the commanding officer, Forward Operating Base Ehor, of the Nigerian Army, Area Commander and Divisional Police officers of the Nigeria Police Force, LG/Divisional Officers of Department of State Services (DSS), State Investigative Bureau, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Orientation Agency as well as the  Coordinator, Edo State Security Corps. The synergy between these agencies and the council is a unified front in safeguarding the communities within the LGA.

The Chairman, Hon. Iredia reiterated his administration’s readiness to provide the necessary support for all security formations operating within the council area and called on community leaders and residents to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities.

As Uhunmwode continues to witness developmental strides, Hon. Iredia reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance stance on insecurity, he also gave a marching order to local security operatives emphasizing that peace and order remain critical pillars for sustainable growth and development in Uhunmwode Local Government Area.
