Acting Provost Of The Edo State College Of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Omosefe, Holds an Interactive Session With Affected Students Of The Abrupt Shutdown Of The Institution In 2017.
It was history in the making, a defining moment for the institution of specialized learning and a turning point in the life and careers of students affected by the unjust closure of the College by the erstwhile Government of Mr. Godwin Obaseki as the Newly appointed Acting Provost of the College, Dr. Andrew Osaigbovo Omosefe on Monday 8th September, 2025, held an interactive session with these students
The Interactive session was aimed at understanding the issues, and also, to feel the pulse of the students. The solidarity was palpable as the acting Provost expressed displeasure with the way and manner the college was closed down, even with students at the verge of graduating. He described the action as an act of wickedness and injustice that has kept the destinies of the promising students at bay for the past seven (7) years. This has, in turn, made the Institution unattractive to students since the unceremonious reopening in 2023.
The acting Provost, Dr. Omosefe, assured the students that a new day had dawned in the College and that the sunrise would cast a fluorescent grandeur of progress and prosperity for the institution. He noted that he can see everything turning around for the college with the assured support of His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, who is passionate about transforming the agricultural sector of the State. He emphasized the College's mandate and mission in pushing the frontiers of agricultural and Natural Resources revolution in the State.
In their several remarks and questions, the affected students expressed gratitude to the Acting Provost for deeming it necessary to call for this very important interactive session. They narrated all the fruitless efforts they have made to seek redress. Their revelations were indeed an eye-opener.
Dr. Omosefe graciously approved the immediate return of National Diploma (ND 1 and 2) students back to school if they desire with the caveat however, that the affected ND 2 students will have to do a refresher session while the modalities for the Higher National Diploma (HND) Students will be perfected and an official communication will be released.
The affected students were instructed to visit the dean of students and the admissions office with copies of their credentials for all necessary support.
The Interactive session ended on a high note with the students elated as the promise of completing their truncated studies ignited hope and for others, it rekindled the optimism once dashed, that they can now retrieve their results, transcripts, exemption letters, and certificates that were once trapped under the rubble of the wrongful and ill-timed closure of the school.
It is indeed the dawn of a new day in Iguoriakhi.
