In a bid to strengthen the foundation of education in Uhunmwode Local Government Area, the Chairman, Hon. Benjamin Osa’s Iredia, on resumption week, embarked on a working visit of selected primary schools to assess the level of compliance of teachers and students with the new academic session.

In a statement release and signed by the Mr. Osaro Dennis Oyomare, Chief Press Secretary Uhunmwode Local Government, the visitation which covered Ehioze Primary School, Eyean Primary School, and Okuosa Primary School, afforded the Chairman the opportunity to interact with pupils, teachers, and headteachers, encouraging them to embrace the new term with renewed zeal and commitment.

Hon. Iredia commended the dedication of teachers who resumed promptly and urged students to take their studies seriously, reminding them that education is the most powerful tool for securing their future. He further expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Edo State, H.E. Sen. Monday Okpebholo, and the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Hon. Paddy Iyamu, for their tireless efforts in implementing meaningful reforms in the state’s education sector, particularly in the improvement of school curricula and learning methodologies.

Speaking during the inspection, the Council Chairman made firm commitments towards improving the educational environment in Uhunmwode as he has mandated the Supervisor for Education and the works department of the council to ensure the clearing of schools within the local government to enhance hygiene and guarantee the safety of pupils. He pledged to Provide school uniforms and essential teaching/learning materials to reduce the burden on parents and reward teachers even on earth against the popular saying that teachers reward is in heaven.

In his statement, “Education remains the path of sustainable development. If we must build a strong society and prepare our children for the future, then every effort must be made to invest in their learning environment. As a Council, we are committed to complementing the efforts of the Edo State Government in this regard.”  Hon. Iredia 

The Chairman emphasized that he will continue to prioritize education as a catalyst for growth and development in Uhunmwode Local Government Area. He encourages parents, guardians, and community leaders to support schools by encouraging children to attend regularly and participate actively in their studies.

The visit was met with enthusiasm from both staff and pupils, as many expressed confidence that the Council’s renewed focus on education would inspire better performance and improve school attendance rates.
