US Vows Visa Ban for Corrupt Nigerian Officials

US Vows Visa Ban for Corrupt Nigerian Officials.

The United States Mission in Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling corruption, warning that no individual, regardless of their influence or position, will be exempt from sanctions.

In a statement posted on its official X handle, the Mission stressed that the fight against corruption transcends borders and high-profile individuals found guilty of such practices could face strict consequences, including visa restrictions.

“Fighting corruption knows no borders or limits on accountability. Even when high-profile individuals engage in corruption, they can be barred from receiving U.S. visas,” the Mission declared.

The announcement is seen as part of Washington’s ongoing efforts to pressure Nigeria and other countries battling widespread corruption to strengthen accountability and governance systems.
