A PACT WITH THE EDO TEACHER: MANIFESTO OF COMRADE EDORODION EVBAZIEGBERE.

Introduction;

Our profession is the backbone of every thriving society. Yet, for too long, we have faced challenges that limit our welfare, dampen our morale, and hinder our growth. I, Comrade Edorodion Evbaziegbere, present myself to serve as Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Edo State Wing, with an impregnable commitment to restore dignity to the teaching profession, improve our conditions of service, and strengthen our union. 

This manifesto represents my vision, priorities, and actionable plans to uplift every Edo teacher and advance our collective interests. Together, let's build a stronger, fairer, and more vibrant Union.

1.  Better Teachers’ Welfare and Improved Conditions of Service

* The NUT, Edo State Wing under my leadership will collaborate with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to regularize stepping in teachers on the payroll without delays.

* Engage with the Edo State Government to ensure regular promotion and prompt implementation of benefits for teachers across the State.

* I will advocate for Edo teachers to receive their salaries at the same time as other state workers without discrimination and push for an end to selective payment practices and ensure transparency in salary disbursement.

* The NUT under my Leadership will work with the government to recruit more teachers to fill existing vacancies, reduce workload, and promote continuous professional development through regular training, seminars, and workshops for all teachers.

* I will ensure that any government education policy adopted is fair and beneficial to Edo teachers.

* I will advocate for upward review of subvention to schools 

* We shall be guided by the shared mantra; "Teachers' First, Always! A stronger Union, a better tomorrow!

2.  Strengthening the Union.

I will engender a new culture; one of unity, tolerance, cooperation, and improved solidarity, thereby strengthening our noble Union as a formidable force in the protection and preservation of teachers' welfare. This will be accomplished practically, guided by the principles of teamwork, transparency, fairness, equity, and justice.

* I will uphold the constitution of the NUT and ensure the sustainability, unity, and integrity of our great union, and ensure the lofty vision of our founding fathers is realized.

* Foster transparent leadership, open communication, and inclusiveness in decision-making.

* Promote initiatives, programs, and policies that will strengthen teachers’ voices and protect their rights at all levels.

Finally, My Commitment to Service; 

I, Comrade Edorodion Evbaziegbere, am committed to credible leadership, transparency, and results-driven service, ensuring that every Edo teacher feels represented, respected, and empowered.
