Hon. Austin Imafidon Flags Off  Measles Rubella Vaccine Immunization for Children in Uhunmwode LGA

In a Press Statement from the office of the Chairman Uhunmwode LGA signed by Ogiehor Ehis Tornado, the Press Secretary Uhunmwode Local Government Area. The Council Chairman, Hon. Austin Imafidon (ISIWINA), has officially flagged off the Rubella Vaccine Immunization Programme for children across the local government, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to preventive healthcare and the wellbeing of children.

The flag-off ceremony took place with the Chairman accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Agie Samuel Joseph, the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Dr. Charles Okpere, and members of the Uhunmwode Medical Team, led by Local Government doctors and nurses.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Austin Imafidon emphasized that the immunization exercise is a critical public health intervention aimed at protecting children from rubella-related complications and reducing preventable childhood illnesses within Uhunmwode communities. 

He noted that investing in child health today guarantees a healthier and more productive future for the local government.

The Chairman commended the dedication and professionalism of the medical personnel deployed for the exercise and urged parents and guardians to take full advantage of the free immunization programme by ensuring their children are vaccinated. 

He assured residents that the council has provided the necessary support and logistics to ensure a smooth, safe, and effective exercise across wards and health centres.

In his remarks, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Agie Samuel Joseph, reiterated the council’s resolve to prioritize primary healthcare delivery, while the HOLGA, Dr. Charles Okpere, highlighted the importance of community participation and cooperation for the success of the programme.

The Uhunmwode Medical Team Lead, on behalf of the doctors and nurses, expressed appreciation to the council leadership for its unwavering support and pledged diligent service throughout the immunization exercise.

The Rubella Vaccine Immunization Programme will be carried out across designated health facilities and outreach points within Uhunmwode Local Government Area, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the primary healthcare system and safeguard the health of children.
