A bill for an Act to create new local government areas in Edo State scales second reading, referred to Committee Stage..

A bill for an Act to alter the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, to provide for the creation of additional local governments in Edo State and other related matters, sponsored by Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru, member representing Orhionmwon Uhunmwode federal constituency at the House of Representatives, has scaled seconding reading.

It will be recalled that the bill was read on the floor of the house for the first time a few months ago and it elicited several commendation from progressive minded Edolites who applauded the proud Benin Chief for being creatively unusual in discharging his legislative mandate.

Having been read for the second time and seconded, the bill has progressed to the next stage of the law making process. Deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu presiding over House plenary refered the bill to the House committee on constitutional amendment for further consideration.

Hon. Osawaru Legislative Ingenuity has continued to catch the attention of progressivists who described his representation as unprecedented, and are clamouring for the continuation of this vibrancy that has redefined Legislative representation.

Hon. Osawaru is indeed delivering the results with a trained focus that is inspiring. Like he always say, "The best of my representation is yet to come".
