Unfortunately, the emerging political narrative suggests that some individuals view the seat as merely another position to be occupied in a long chain of personal political ambitions. Recent developments indicate that a former commissioner from Uhunmwonde has resigned his position in order to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing the constituency. While the right to aspire to public office is fundamental in a democracy, the people of Orhionmwon must ask deeper questions: Is this ambition truly driven by a genuine desire to serve, or by a persistent quest to occupy every available political office?

Is he the only qualified individual from Uhunmwonde at all times—whether for elective office or political appointment? Must leadership always revolve around one individual? Or is this simply another manifestation of the politics of “me alone” driven by personal and inordinate ambition?
