Nigeria Will Never Bow to Terrorists or Bandits — President Tinubu Roars, vows to Rescue Captives.

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s resolve to tackle insecurity across the country and secure the release of all individuals currently held captive by criminal groups.

The President’s message was delivered by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, during a national interdenominational church service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

According to a statement issued by the SGF’s media aide, Yomi Odunuga, Tinubu declared that, “The government of Nigeria shall never succumb to terror, banditry or any form of criminal intimidation.”

He emphasized that protecting the lives and property of Nigerians remains a key priority of the Federal Government, noting that recent attacks and kidnappings demonstrate the need for continued and intensified security operations.

The President also assured citizens that efforts were ongoing to rescue those still in captivity, stating, “The safety of Nigerians remains a top priority of the Federal Government. The recent attacks and abductions are painful reminders that more work remains to be done.”

He added, “The safe return of all persons in captivity remains a national priority. Security agencies and relevant institutions are being supported with the necessary resources to protect lives, secure communities and preserve Nigeria’s territorial integrity.”

Tinubu further pledged to intensify efforts to ease economic hardship and improve the delivery of democratic dividends, acknowledging the challenges posed by rising living costs, insecurity, kidnappings and displacement in parts of the country.

“The government is sensitive to all these pains, shares in these pains and has heard your cries,” he said.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the President urged Nigerians to reject violence, hate speech and divisive politics, warning against turning democracy into a battlefield.
