BREAKING NEWS: Governor Monday Okpebholo Assent to The Law Establishing Edo State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology.
In a landmark development for tertiary education in Edo State, the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has officially assented to the Law establishing the Edo State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology.
This historic assent marks the formal transition of the institution from the Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (ECANR) to an Agriculture-based Polytechnic, significantly expanding its academic mandate and positioning it to offer broader programmes in agriculture, science, management, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technical education.
It will be recalled that, about two weeks ago, the Edo State House of Assembly repealed the law establishing the Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and subsequently passed into law, the bill establishing the Edo State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology.
With the Governor's assent, the new law has now come into force, ushering in a new era of institutional growth, academic excellence, and enhanced opportunities for students across Edo State and beyond.
The transformation is expected to strengthen the College's capacity to produce highly skilled graduates, promote research and innovation, drive agricultural development, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic advancement of Edo State.
This milestone further underscores Governor Monday Okpebholo's commitment to educational development under his SHINE Agenda, reaffirming his administration's resolve to expand access to affordable, quality, and industry-driven tertiary education for the people of Edo State.
