FG COMMENCES NSIPA RENEWED HOPE VOCATIONAL & SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMME NATIONWIDE

Following the official flag-off of the Renewed Hope Vocational & Skills Training Programme at the Government Science Technical College, GSTC, Area 3, Garki, Abuja on Monday, 13th July 2026, the Federal Government, through the National Social Investment Programme Agency, NSIPA, has commenced training in all 36 States and the FCT.

Conducting an on-the-spot assessment at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, PSIN, Kubwa, FCT, one of the designated training centres, the National Programme Manager, N-POWER, Dr. Nsikak Amos Okon, said over 18,000 Nigerians will benefit as the Government deploys idle vocational assets for job creation across 230 training centres nationwide.

Addressing beneficiaries, Dr. Okon described the programme as “a practical demonstration of the unwavering commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to addressing unemployment, reducing poverty, promoting entrepreneurship, and expanding opportunities for Nigerians through sustainable skills development.”

He stated that training is ongoing simultaneously in all States of the Federation. He admonished beneficiaries to focus beyond the training allowance and on the long-term value the programme would add to their lives.

“The Federal Government is focused on improving your economic power and adding value to your lives. Therefore, do not sell the starter packs that will be given to you at the end of the training. Please deploy them for the purposes they are meant for,” he charged them.

On payment of training allowances, Dr. Okon assured beneficiaries of transparency, noting that payments would be made directly into their respective bank accounts.

He listed the 14 high-demand vocational trades covered by the programme as:

Automobile Technology, Agricultural Technology, Baking and Confectionery, Carpentry, Catering Services, Electrical Installation, Housekeeping, Jewellery and Bead Making, Masonry, Plumbing, Welding and Fabrication, Fashion Design and Sewing, Grinding Machine Operations, and Vulcanizing and Tyre Services.

Earlier, the Assistant Director, N-POWER, Dr. Madu Uba, representing the National Programme Manager visited the Voice of the Girl Child and Vulnerable People Foundation in Nyanya, Abuja, another training centre, where he enlightened beneficiaries on the importance of the programme and its economic benefits.

Dr. Uba noted that skills acquisition is now an economic necessity. He added that the Renewed Hope Vocational & Skills Training Programme was designed as “a comprehensive pathway to economic empowerment and poverty reduction” and not just another training exercise.

BENEFICIARIES’ TESTIMONIES:

One of the beneficiaries at PSIN, Kubwa, Mrs. Comfort Ahua, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the initiative, saying it would go a long way in improving their social and economic status. She described the programme as unprecedented and pledged to utilize the knowledge gained judiciously.

Also, Mrs. Cecilia Ochayan Abba from Voice of the Girl Child and Vulnerable People Foundation, Nyanya, commended the leadership of NSIPA for the programme and appealed to Government to institute another phase so that more Nigerians can benefit.
