BREAKING: FAAN REVERSES BOLT BAN AFTER BACKLASH OVER N30,000 AIRPORT TAXI FARE

BREAKING: FAAN REVERSES BOLT BAN AFTER BACKLASH OVER N30,000 AIRPORT TAXI FARE

Nigeria, August 27. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reversed its ban on Bolt and other e-hailing services operating at Nigerian airports following public criticism over high airport transportation fares.

FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs, Henry Agbebire, announced the reversal in a statement issued on Thursday.

The decision followed controversy surrounding the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAM), which had sparked concerns among passengers and e-hailing operators.

The controversy intensified after a viral video showed an airport passenger alleging that FAAN-owned ACHRAM had pegged the cost of a car-hire trip at ₦30,000, despite the same journey reportedly costing about ₦8,000 through other services.

FAAN subsequently clarified that ACHRAM is not an e-hailing platform like Bolt or Uber and said it was not designed to monopolise car-hiring services at Nigerian airports.

Following engagements between FAAN and Bolt, the authority announced that both parties had reached an operational agreement.

“FAAN and Bolt have reached an agreeable operational framework, and Bolt is cleared to commence its services at FAAN-managed airports immediately,” the statement said.

The reversal means Bolt drivers can resume operations at FAAN-managed airports under the agreed framework.

The development comes amid growing concerns from passengers over transportation costs and the need for affordable and accessible airport transfer services.
