Reconciliation Seals Victory: Hon. Washington Osifo, Supporters Declare Total Support for Hon. Osawaru as Uhunmwode Unites to Move as One Formidable Force.
In a heartwarming and significant move towards genuine reconciliation and unification—one that could seal victory—an Edo State Commissioner-designate, a true son of Uhunmwode known for his towering intellect and luminous mind, Hon. Washington Osifo, PhD, alongside hordes of his trusted and loyal supporters, on Monday, 3rd August, 2026, hosted the Member representing the good people of Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru, to an enlarged unification meeting at his humble abode.
As seasoned democrats, attendees saw the meeting as an avenue to bury the hatchet in the spirit of oneness and forge a new path to progress and electoral victories. As a fallible and imperfect human being, Hon. Osawaru received sincere feedback from members of Hon. Osifo's team on several of his missteps. He accepted the corrections with humility and offered profuse apologies.
Blessed with the gift of gab and an incredible sense of sportsmanship, Hon. Washington Osifo, in his inspiring remarks, said that as a progressive, the right thing to do as members of the same political family is to genuinely reconcile after a heated intra-party political contest. He stressed the fact that, as sons of Uhunmwode Local Government Area, what unites them as brothers is greater than what divides them.
Hon. Osifo further noted that it is only divinity that forges the destinies of men, and that from the way the events of the House of Representatives primary election for Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency unfolded, only a man bereft of an understanding of how the grace of God works would fail to see the hand of God in the life of Hon. Osawaru. He commended the federal lawmaker for his resilience and appreciated him for his fighting yet liberal spirit. He added that Hon. Osawaru fights to achieve his desires and fulfil his ambitions but has never stood in the way of others pursuing theirs, as he harbours no personal vendetta against anyone.
He highlighted the need to collectively forge a victorious pathway, noting that the target of delivering 2.5 million votes for His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as pledged by His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, remains at stake, alongside the need to secure a landslide victory for Hon. Osawaru and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections. Hon. Osifo also paid glowing tribute to illustrious sons of Uhunmwode, particularly Hon. Samson Raphael Osagie, describing him as one of the most decorated sons of Uhunmwode and commending all that he represents.
Hon. Washington Osifo concluded his remarks with the following emphatic words, as paraphrased:
"On behalf of the Washington Team, I want to pledge to you, Hon. Billy Osawaru, that you have my 100% support and that of every member of my political family."
These words were greeted with thunderous applause.
A visibly elated Hon. Osawaru, in his response, took time to address all the concerns raised, saying that he had longed for an opportunity like this to sit down as brothers once again and resolve outstanding issues. Using very kind and edifying words, he generously thanked Hon. Osifo for arranging the meeting. While extolling his sterling qualities, he described him as one of a kind, saying he constantly draws valuable lessons from Hon. Osifo's political philosophy, his understanding of the power of divinity, and his worldview.
He stressed that Monday, 3rd August, 2026, would forever be etched in his heart, not only as one of the happiest days of his life but also as a defining moment for the future of Uhunmwode. He added that with the calibre of political actors and juggernauts in Hon. Washington Osifo's camp combined with those in his own, there is no electoral mountain that cannot be demolished if they genuinely unite and work together as one.
The proud Benin Chief also addressed the sustained media attacks on Hon. Patrick Aisoweren by faceless individuals on social Media, and for the umpteenth time, distanced himself and that of his team from their activities. He described Hon. Aisoweren as a respected leader in Orhionmwon and acknowledged the enormous force that he is.
Hon. Osawaru appreciated everyone who attended the meeting and appealed for their support and sincere forgiveness in areas where he might have erred. He promised to further engage personally with individuals and groups aligned with the Washington Team.
The meeting ended on a joyous note, underscoring the fact that politics, for enlightened minds, is indeed not a "do-or-die" affair. It also emphasized that brothers may disagree because of personal ambitions and differing principles, but our collective growth and development as a people remain the bigger picture that binds us together. With true reconciliation and unity, Uhunmwode is once again repositioned for massive electoral victories.
