Edo SUBEB Urges Teachers to Apply for INEC Ad-Hoc Jobs Ahead of 2027 Elections

BENIN CITY — The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has called on teachers across the state to take advantage of the ongoing recruitment of ad-hoc personnel by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the 2027 General Elections.

The call was contained in a circular dated October 6, 2026, issued by the Human Resources Department of Edo SUBEB and addressed to all teachers in the state.

According to the circular, INEC has commenced the recruitment of ad-hoc staff to support the conduct of the 2027 General Elections, while qualified and interested teachers in Edo State have been encouraged to apply.

The Board noted that the participation of teachers is in line with existing Federal Government approval permitting civil servants to participate as election ad-hoc staff.

How to Apply

Interested teachers are expected to complete the application process online through the INEC recruitment portal.

SUBEB advised eligible teachers to ensure that their applications are submitted before the deadline stipulated by INEC.

The Board also stressed that participation is voluntary and must not interfere with teaching and learning activities in schools.

It further stated that teachers who are selected to serve as ad-hoc election personnel would be granted the necessary permission in accordance with the Public Service Rules.

SUBEB also directed headteachers to make the contents of the circular known to all teachers under their supervision and specifically warned them not to hinder any interested teacher from applying.

The development is expected to provide teachers with an opportunity to participate in the electoral process while contributing to the successful conduct of the 2027 General Elections.

The circular was signed by Amadasun Blessing, Director, Human Resources, on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board.
