FG Announces 30-Day Petrol Price Reduction at NNPC Filling Stations
ABUJA — The Federal Government has announced a temporary reduction in the price of petrol at filling stations operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), with Nigerians expected to benefit from lower pump prices for the next 30 days.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed the development, describing it as part of measures aimed at providing immediate relief to Nigerians and cushioning the impact of high fuel costs on households and businesses.
According to the minister, the price reduction will be available at NNPC filling stations nationwide for a period of 30 days.
The announcement is expected to provide some relief to motorists, transport operators and other Nigerians whose daily activities and business operations are heavily dependent on petrol.
The development could also have a positive impact on transportation and the cost of moving goods and services, particularly if the reduction is reflected in pump prices across the affected NNPC outlets.
Oyedele said the initiative forms part of the Federal Government's broader efforts to ease economic pressure on citizens while implementing policies aimed at stabilising the nation's economy.
The temporary reduction comes amid continued concerns over the cost of petrol and its wider effect on transportation, food prices and the general cost of living.
The Federal Government is expected to provide further details on the new pump prices and the implementation arrangements as the 30-day period gets underway.
