House of Representatives Celebrates Oba Ewuare II at 10th Coronation Anniversary

Osawaru Leads Federal Lawmakers in Honouring Benin Monarch

The House of Representatives has felicitated with His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin Kingdom, on the occasion of his 10th Coronation Anniversary.

The felicitation was conveyed on the floor of the Green Chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja, in recognition of the Benin monarch’s decade on the throne and his contributions to the preservation of the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Benin Kingdom.

The motion of felicitation was sponsored by the Member representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency of Edo State, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Billy Famous Adesuwa Osawaru, who is also the Obazuhunwa of the Benin Kingdom.

The House, through the felicitation, joined the people of Benin Kingdom, Edo State and well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond in celebrating the historic milestone of the revered monarch.

The 10th Coronation Anniversary of Oba Ewuare II provides an opportunity to reflect on his years of service to the Benin Kingdom, his role in promoting the cultural identity of the Benin people, and his continued advocacy for peace, unity and development.

Hon. Osawaru expressed his best wishes to the revered monarch, praying for continued wisdom, good health and a long and peaceful reign on the ancient throne of Benin.

The occasion further underscored the enduring relationship between the traditional institution and the democratic structures of governance in promoting peace, cultural heritage and development.

As the Benin Kingdom celebrates this remarkable milestone, the people continue to honour the Oba’s reign and legacy.
