NIGERIA AT 66: Hon. Austin Imafidon Salutes the Resilience Of Nigerians and Reaffirms Commitment To a Greater Uhunmwode.

As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, I join millions of our compatriots at home and in the diaspora in celebrating the enduring spirit, strength, and resilience that continue to define the Nigerian people.

Our independence represents far more than the attainment of political freedom. It embodies our collective identity as a nation, our determination to chart our own course, and our continuing aspiration to build a country where every citizen has the opportunity to live with dignity, security and hope.

Over the years, Nigeria has traversed a complex national journey characterised by remarkable achievements, difficult seasons, economic challenges and periods of socio-political transformation. Yet, through it all, the Nigerian spirit has remained unbroken. Our capacity to endure adversity, adapt to changing circumstances and continue to believe in the promise of our country remains one of our greatest national assets.

At 66, therefore, we have every reason to reflect not only on where we have come from, but also on the Nigeria we desire to build for present and future generations. Nation-building is an ongoing process. It demands patience, sacrifice, responsible citizenship, collective commitment, and the courage to embrace reforms that can reposition our country for sustainable development.

There may be moments when the process of transformation appears difficult, and there may be sacrifices that accompany necessary changes. However, genuine progress is rarely achieved without perseverance. The important thing is that, even in challenging times, we must not lose confidence in the Nigerian project or abandon our collective responsibility to make our nation better.

As a government at the grassroots, we recognise that the strength of Nigeria is ultimately reflected in the wellbeing of its communities and the quality of life enjoyed by its citizens. This is why our administration remains committed to people-oriented governance, responsive leadership, community development and initiatives that improve the lives of the people of Uhunmwode Local Government Area.

On this auspicious occasion, I particularly salute the hardworking, enterprising and resilient people of Uhunmwode for their cooperation and belief in the possibility of a better tomorrow. Your contributions to the growth and development of our communities remain invaluable.

Let us continue to promote peace, unity, tolerance and mutual respect, recognising that our diversity is not a weakness but a defining feature of our national identity. Whatever our ethnic, religious, cultural or political differences may be, we remain bound together by a common citizenship and a shared destiny.

As we celebrate this milestone in our national history, may we renew our faith in Nigeria, strengthen our commitment to its unity and remain hopeful about the possibilities that lie ahead. The responsibility of building the Nigeria of our dreams belongs to all of us.

On behalf of my family, the Uhunmwode Local Government Council, and the good people of Uhunmwode, I wish Nigerians at home and abroad a peaceful, reflective, and joyous Independence Day celebration.

May God continue to bless Uhunmwode Local Government, Edo State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

HAPPY 66TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY, NIGERIA!

Signed,

Hon. Austin Imafidon.
