Inclusivity In Governance: How Hon. Ben Iredia Osa's Is Bringing Governance Closer To The People.

The central goal of the Hon. Benjamin Iredia Osas-led administration in Uhunmwode Local Government Council is to bring government even closer to the people at the grassroots.

Ordinarily, effective governance takes a "bottom-up" approach, one where the voices, needs, and aspirations of the people directly influence policies, programs, and decision-making. This principle forms the bedrock of Hon. Iredia’s leadership philosophy. His administration is deliberately prioritizing community and stakeholders' engagement to ensure that development is people-driven and tailored to local needs and realities.

Hon. Ben Iredia has opened up multiple channels for dialogue, citizen participation, and feedback mechanisms that empower residents to express their concerns and contribute to the decision-making processes. By doing so, he is strengthening the social contract between the government and the people, bringing governance closer to them, and also restoring confidence in local institutions.

One of the hallmarks of his inclusive governance strategy is the appointment of five (5) supervisory councillors from the ten wards that make up the LGA and Special Advisers carefully selected from Wards and communities in Uhunmwode. These supervisory councillors and Special Advisers are men and women of proven track record of effective community engagement and representation. These individuals will serve as the conduits between their communities and the council, ensuring that even the most remote areas are not left behind in the developmental agenda.

This move has significantly increased public trust and ownership of government initiatives.

Moreover, under Hon. Iredia’s watch, the Council has implemented people-oriented projects, from healthcare outreaches to youth and women empowerment programs, structured environmental sanitation that has a direct bearing on the health of the people, road rehabilitation, among other projects too numerous to mention. As a listening leader, these projects, policies, and programs are based on direct community input. This participatory and inclusive model of leadership is gradually transforming Uhunmwode into a beacon of grassroots democracy, where every citizen feels seen, heard, and represented.

As he continues to redefine governance at the local level, Hon. Benjamin Iredia Osas is an example of what is possible when leadership is visionary, inclusive, and truly committed to the people’s welfare.
