HON. BENJAMIN OSA'S IREDIA THE UHUNMWODE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN PRESIDES OVER HIGH-LEVEL SECURITY STAKEHOLDERS MEETING AT THE COUNCIL HEADQUARTERS, EHOR, ON THE RECENT KIDNAPPING INCIDENTS ALONG BENIN-AGBOR ROAD, BENIN-AKURE ROAD, AND OTHER ENVIRONS

In a proactive move to address the rising wave of insecurity, particularly the recent kidnapping activities along Benin–Agbor Road, Benin–Akure Road, and other flashpoints across Uhunmwode Local Government Area, the Acting Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Hon. Benjamin Osa’s Iredia, on Wednesday presided over a high powered security meeting at the Council Headquarters, Ehor.

In a press release signed by Mr. Osaro Dennis Oyomare, the Chief Press Secretary Uhunmwode Local Government. The meeting brought together security agencies, on actionable measures aimed at curbing the menace of kidnapping and restoring peace and safety in the area as we have entered into the ember months.

Hon. Iredia, in his opening address, condemned the unfortunate incidents and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the security of lives and property in Uhunmwode. He noted that the Benin–Agbor and Benin– Ekpoma corridors are not only critical economic routes but also lifelines for commuters, traders, and residents within Edo State and beyond.

“We cannot fold our arms while criminals threaten the peace and stability of our people. Security is a collective responsibility, and as a council, we will continue to support our security agencies and collaborate with our communities to ensure that Uhunmwode remains safe for all,” the Chairman stated.

The meeting jointly reviewed intelligence reports and community based security strategies, while also discussing the need for improved patrols, intelligence sharing, and closer collaboration between security operatives and local vigilante groups.

The market leaders and community leaders in attendance expressed confidence in the proactive steps being taken by the Council Chairman, Hon.Benjamin Osa’s Iredia, pledged their continuous cooperation in the fight against insecurity.

The meeting ended with a strong resolve that Uhunmwode Local Government Area will not tolerate criminal activities and that all hands must remain on deck to restore peace and normalcy across the affected areas.
