COMRADE EDORODION EVBAZIEGBERE'S 2025 WORLD TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION MESSAGE TO EDO TEACHERS

COMRADE EDORODION EVBAZIEGBERE'S 2025 WORLD TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION MESSAGE TO EDO TEACHERS.

Dear Edo Teachers,

Today, as we join teachers worldwide to celebrate "World Teachers’ Day 2025", let's be reminded that the celebration is about the nobility of our profession as a pillar of every nation’s progress. I humbly celebrate every Edo Teacher whose daily sacrifice keeps hope alive in every classroom.

This year’s theme, “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession,” is indeed inspiring, as it speaks directly to our current reality. Like we all know, teaching goes beyond the four walls of a classroom. This year's theme emphasizes the fact that "teaching," which is the transfer of knowledge, instruction, and morals whether formally or informally, is a tool of socialization that has sustained human existence, advanced the course of our humanity, and produced landmark breakthroughs in all facets of human existence. Teaching is collaborative, as there is teaching in every other existing profession. This is a potent degree of external collaboration in the act of knowledge transfer.

In the classroom however, this year's theme seeks to ignite in us the transformative power of positive change. A call for us to remodify and redesign teaching, away from the old ways of isolation into a more collaborative profession. The theme echoes the fact that the time has come for teachers to move from working alone to winning together.

For too long, our teachers have stood alone, underpaid, overworked, undervalued, underated, and often unheard. Truth is, no teacher succeeds alone. When we unite, we draw strength from one another. When we collaborate, we create the kind of power that transforms classrooms, strengthens schools, and gives teachers a louder, stronger voice in society.

That is why I believe this theme is more than a slogan, it is a movement. A movement for shared learning, struggle, and success.

Furthermore, as teachers, when we collaborate, we allow mentorship to thrive amongst ourselves, we engender unity in our union, and solidarity in our pursuit of better welfare and working conditions. It translates to improved passion for our jobs, and better output for the benefit of the Edo Child (Our students and pupils).

As one who mutually walks in the classroom trenches with you all and feels the weight of our challenges, and as one who aspires to lead the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Edo State Wing as Chairman, I like to reaffirm my commitment to serve and lead differently. If entrusted with the leadership of the NUT I will champion a Collaborative Union where every teacher’s concern is everyone’s concern and a State Wing connected in purpose and progress.

We will be a union where Edo teachers speak with one strong, united voice! We would create a union where everyone learns from each other, one that listens.  A union that acts, and fights together, not for a few, but for all.

We will put "Teachers First, and always.

As we celebrate ourselves today, I wish you a glorious Happy Teachers' Day Celebration. May God continue to keep us in good health, knowledge, Wisdom, and understanding as we continue to collaboratively strive towards reaping the rewards of our labours for humanity here on earth. Together, we will reclaim our dignity, restore respect to the classroom, and recast teaching not as a lonely journey but as a united force for transformation.

Long live the Edo Teacher!

Long Live State Wing of the NUT!!

Long live the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT)!!!

Long live Edo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!!

Signed,

Comrade Edorodion Evbaziegbere (Daudu),

NUT Chairmanship Hopeful, Edo State Wing.
