Comrade Harrison Osabuohien Ediae Call for Purposeful Leadership as NUT Election Draws Nearer 

Distinguished colleagues, fellow educators, respected  elders, and esteemed contestants in the forthcoming Nigeria union of teachers (NUT) elections. 

Good day

Today,as our great nation mark's  65 years of independence, we gather not only to celebrate our freedom, but to reflect on our roles in shaping the future as educators, as leaders, and as citizens. 

Nigeria is 65, that means we have come a long way through trials and triumphs-and our journey is still unfolding. But one thing remains constant: education is the foundation of any nation's greatness. And teachers, you and i,are the builders of that foundation. 

As we approach the NUT election I want to speak directly to all contestants. Whether you are running for chairperson, secretary, treasurer, or any positions-this is your moment. Not just to campaign, but to lead by example. 

Here is my sincere advice to all contestants 

1) LET INTEGRITY GUIDE YOUR AMBITION.do not seek position for power. Seek it for purpose. Ask yourself: Am I truly ready to serve those who serve the nation everyday in classroom across Nigeria?

2) PREACH UNITY NOT DIVISION. Election should never divide us. After all the votes are counted, we will still return to one staff room, one blackboard, one mission-to teach, to build, to inspire. 

3) SELL YOUR VISION, NOT YOUR EGO. Let your campaign be about ideas not insult. Let your message be clear,your plans be practical, and your words be respectful. Remember, you are speaking to fellow professionals. 

4) ALWAYS PUT THE TEACHERS FIRST. If your manifesto does not benefit the ordinary teacher in the rural village school or the overworked urban classroom then go back and rethink. 

5) WIN OR LOSE. Protect the union true leadership is shown not just in victory, but also in humility. If elected, serve with ur strength. If not support with all your heart. The NUT must remain strong- stronger than any one candidate. 

As Nigeria celebrate 65yrs of independence, let us also fight for independence of the teaching profession-from neglect, from underpayment, from disrespect.

Let us elect leaders who will raise their voices not just in meetings but in action-leaders who will defend teachers the way we defend every child's future. 

Finally, The classroom maybe small, but the dream that start there are bigger than nation.

Let us not fail those who look up to us. Let us make this election not just about positions,but about progress. 

Happy Independence Day. Long live NUT, long live edo state long federal public of Nigeria.
