In a remarkable show of solidarity and support, the leadership and members of the 3rd Force Movement for APC, Uhunmwode Chapter, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Acting Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Hon. Austin Imafidon, at the Council’s administrative headquarters in Ehor.

It was an atmosphere of excitement and unity, as the visit served and stood on a tripod of purpose. First, members of the movement heartily congratulated Hon. Imafidon on his well-deserved emergence as Acting Chairman, describing it as a recognition of his track record of experience, excellence, visionary leadership, and selfless service to the people.

Secondly, the group known for its strong grassroots mobilization for the APC commended his administration’s impressive strides in providing critical infrastructure within a short period. They noted that his rapid impact, evident in just a few weeks in office, has already begun to address long-standing developmental deficits in the area. They cited, among others, the ongoing road construction projects in Ugiehudu and Uhi, the construction of a health centre in Uhi, the extensive renovation of the Council Secretariat, and the unity, harmony, and stability he is using his office to restore within Uhunmwode APC as clear evidence of his visionary leadership.

Thirdly, impressed by his sterling performance and clear vision for a prosperous Uhunmwode, the 3rd Force Movement unanimously endorsed Hon. Imafidon for continuity, pledging their total support for his Chairmanship election bid. The group expressed confidence that he will seamlessly transition from Acting Chairman to substantive Chairman after the forthcoming local government elections.

Speaker after speaker reaffirmed the group’s position and appealed to the Chairman to extend opportunities to members of the movement in the areas of appointments, empowerment, and employment, noting that the 3rd Force boasts of competent and qualified individuals ready to serve. In the same vein, the movement officially presented its members vying for Councillorship positions in Uhunmwode Legislative Arm in the forthcoming elections, namely: Mr. Omoruyi Esiewi Youngish (Isi South), Amb. Believe Oriakhe Osayawe (Umagbae South) and Mr. Efese Onorefe (Umagbae North) and solicited the Chairman’s support for their aspirations.

In his response, Hon. Austin Imafidon flanked by his principal officers, expressed deep appreciation to the group for their visit and commended their resilience, organization, and impact. He noted with pride that, as one of the founding leaders and Patron of the 3rd Force Movement, he is delighted to see the group remain dedicated despite external pressures.

The ebullient Chairman highlighted some of his laudable and unprecedented achievements within weeks of taking office, explaining his decision to give the Council Secretariat, which is the symbol of the local government, the much-needed facelift.

He reaffirmed his vision to make Uhunmwode a prosperous hub for investment, leveraging his experience as a seasoned entrepreneur to attract investors, create thousands of jobs, and expand infrastructure. “I will live true to my name, ISIWINA, which embodies my vision, purpose, and commitment,” he declared.

Hon. Imafidon also appreciated the Practical Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, for his tireless support and for granting local governments the freedom to operate effectively. He further acknowledged with gratitude the support and leadership of the APC Local Government Chairman, Rt. Hon. Osayemwenre Osawe.

The highlight of the visit was a guided tour of the ongoing renovation works at the Council Secretariat. Speaking with newsmen afterward, Hon. Imafidon outlined the timeline for his developmental vision, promising that within one year, and with the collaboration of key stakeholders, Uhunmwode will emerge as a thriving and prosperous centre for commerce, with improved infrastructure, investor confidence, and strengthened security.
