U.S. President Trump Warns of Possible Air Strikes in Nigeria.
U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday escalated rhetoric over violence in Nigeria, saying he has asked the Pentagon to prepare plans for possible military action including the prospect of troops on the ground or air strikes if the Nigerian government does not stop what he described as the mass killing of Christians.
Speaking to reporters while returning to Washington, Mr. Trump said several military options were being considered. “Could be. I mean, other things. I envisage a lot of things,” he said when asked whether he pictured ground forces or air strkes, adding that the U.S. would not “allow” large-scale killings to continue.
