The Acting Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Hon. Austin Imafidon, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, on his well-earned recognition by New Telegraph as Governor of the Year in Education, describing the honour as a fitting testimonial to purposeful leadership and visionary governance.

In a congratulatory message personally signed and made available to the press, Hon. Imafidon stated that the award reflects the tangible transformation currently reshaping Edo State’s education sector. According to him, the Governor’s pragmatic policies under the SHINE Agenda, coupled with the political will to faithfully implement them, have significantly strengthened and repositioned the educational landscape across the State.

“Across all tiers of education, His Excellency has made substantial investments in infrastructural development in schools covering the three Senatorial Districts of Edo State, thereby creating a conducive teaching and learning environment for both educators and students.

The sector has been strategically revitalized through the recruitment of qualified and motivated teachers, as well as increased statutory allocations, improved overheads, and enhanced subvention to state-owned institutions. The remarkable upward review of subvention to Ambrose Alli University, which has recalibrated and stabilized the institution, remains fresh in our collective memory.”

Hon. Imafidon further noted that Governor Okpebholo’s practical and results-driven leadership style continues to set a benchmark for responsive governance anchored on the welfare and prosperity of Edo people. He emphasized that the Governor remains a source of inspiration in his own commitment to accelerate urban development in Uhunmwode and deepen investments in human capital development.
