The Edo State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo, has paid a working visit to Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, as part of efforts to strengthen engagement with educational institutions and assess developments within the state’s education sector.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Commissioner to interact with the university community and gain first-hand insight into issues affecting the institution, particularly those relating to academic activities, infrastructure, staff and students’ welfare, and the overall development of the university.

Dr. Osifo’s visit comes at a time when the Edo State Government continues to place emphasis on improving the quality and effectiveness of education across the state. Recent engagements by the Commissioner have also focused on school resumption compliance, teacher development and collaboration with stakeholders in the education sector.

The Commissioner’s engagement at Ambrose Alli University underscores the importance of maintaining regular communication between the state government and tertiary institutions in Edo State.

Dr. Osifo is no stranger to the university, having obtained his LL.B and LL.M degrees from Ambrose Alli University before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School. His academic background also includes postgraduate studies in Political Science and Public Administration, as well as a doctorate in Comparative Politics and Development.

The Commissioner’s return to the institution in his capacity as a government official therefore also highlights his longstanding connection with the university and the broader education sector.

The working visit forms part of the wider responsibility of the Ministry of Education to engage educational institutions, identify challenges and support initiatives capable of improving educational standards and outcomes across Edo State.
