Federal Teaching Hospital Owerri Opens Internship Recruitment for Medical Graduates, Sets November 18 Deadline

OWERRI, IMO STATE — The Federal Teaching Hospital, Owerri, has announced internship opportunities for qualified medical and healthcare graduates across several professional fields, urging eligible candidates to obtain application forms and complete the recruitment process before the November 18, 2026 deadline.

The recruitment exercise is aimed at qualified candidates seeking internship placements in various healthcare disciplines, as well as eligible applicants for the hospital's Diploma in Anaesthesia programme.

According to the recruitment notice, applications are open in the following fields:

1. Pharmacy
2. Medical Laboratory Science
3. Dental Technology
4. Dental Therapy
5. Physiotherapy
6. Nursing
7. Radiography

For the Nursing internship, only university graduates from January 2017 are eligible to apply, as stated in the notice.

Interested candidates must be fully registered with their respective professional regulatory bodies and possess valid practising licences or induction certificates, as applicable.

Applicants are also required to have completed their professional training and obtained genuine certificates to support their applications.

Candidates interested in the Diploma in Anaesthesia programme must be fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

They must also possess a current practising licence and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificate.

Eligible candidates are required to obtain application forms from the Office of the Director of Administration at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Owerri.

Completed application forms should be addressed to the Chief Medical Director and submitted to the Office of the Director of Administration.

The hospital stated that only shortlisted candidates would be invited for an interview.

The collection and submission of application forms will run for six weeks from the date of publication, with November 18, 2026, fixed as the deadline.

The date for the interview will be communicated to shortlisted candidates in due course.

Applicants invited for interviews must present the original copies of their credentials for verification.

The hospital has warned prospective applicants to beware of fraudsters operating on Facebook and other platforms who may demand money while claiming to act on behalf of the Chief Medical Director.

According to the notice, the recruitment exercise will be conducted strictly on merit, and candidates are advised to follow the official application procedure and avoid making payments to unauthorised individuals.
