WIKE WARNS APC CAMPAIGN COUNCIL: “IF YOU FAIL TO DELIVER YOUR STATE FOR TINUBU, DON’T CLAIM VICTORY”
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council to demonstrate their political strength by ensuring that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures victory in their respective states in the 2027 presidential election.
Wike issued the warning on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, where he stressed that members must take responsibility for delivering their assigned political territories rather than celebrating victories achieved through the efforts of others.
The FCT minister, who has been appointed to coordinate Tinubu's re-election campaign in the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State, maintained that campaign council members must justify the responsibilities entrusted to them through measurable electoral results.
According to Wike, political leaders should not claim credit for the President's victory if they fail to secure substantial support for him in their respective states.
He further declared his commitment to mobilising voters in Rivers State and the FCT in support of Tinubu's second-term ambition.
Wike's position underscores the growing political activities and strategic alliances emerging ahead of the 2027 general election, as the APC seeks to consolidate its support base across the country.
Despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike has openly declared his support for Tinubu's re-election, arguing that political differences should not prevent leaders from supporting what they consider beneficial to the country.
His role in coordinating the campaign in Rivers State and the FCT also highlights the cross-party political arrangements surrounding Tinubu's re-election bid.
The inauguration brought together prominent political figures, governors, party leaders and other stakeholders to formally commence preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.
President Tinubu, while inaugurating the council, called for unity, commitment and discipline among members, urging them to work collectively towards the party's electoral objectives.
As political activities intensify ahead of the election, Wike's message serves as a challenge to campaign officials and political stakeholders to translate their positions and influence into electoral support for the President.
The 2027 presidential election is expected to witness intense political competition, with parties and their supporters already positioning themselves for the contest.
