We paid 7 years rent on property before Obaseki's hijack on secretariat. - Emperor Jarret Tenebe, Edo State Chairman, All Progressives Congress.

The Chairman of the A.P.C, in Edo, has granted a press conference following the successful reclamation of the secretariat building along Airport Road, Benin-City. Emperor Jarret Tenebe, in his remarks took listeners down memory lane on how the A.P.C, were the rightful occupant of the property, before the exit of Obaseki from the party in 2020.

Mr. Jarret, also briefed the press as to how a rent of 7 years was made from the coffers of the party, through the support of the National office, which ensured that the state chapter, was able to renew rent on the property.

However, following the exit of an embittered Godwin Obaseki who stormed out of the party after he was screened out from the process of contesting the governorship primaries of the party in 2020, Obaseki who believed that as governor, everything revolved around him, instead of allowing the PDP he decamped into to continue using its existing secretariat, forcefully had his way and took over the secretariat of the APC in 2020 and converted it to the PDP secretariat in a brazen display of rascality and executive impunity.

Even after the A.P.C, got approval from the Inspector General of Police to return back to the secretariat being the rightful occupants after series of petition made by the party, Obaseki remained adamant and insisted on retaining the building as the PDP secretariat. 

Following the victory and swearing in of an A.P.C administration in Edo State, the P.D.P, which occupied the property illegally for over four years, had no further business being there as they had no more executive power to back their stay of impunity.

Emperor Jarret described the reclamation of the secretariat, as a fulfilment of his second promise made to the party, when he became acting chairman, whereby the first promise to reclaim power back to the party has already been fulfilled by the victory of Sen. Monday Okpebholo at the governorship polls in September.

The state chairman, further disclosed that the party has come to reclaim its rightful place as occupants of the building and after the completion of renovation, offices would be allocated to various officials of the party in the secretariat.
