EDO STATE COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION UNVEILS 18 LGA CHIEF INSPECTORS OF EDUCATION

In a bid to boost grassroots educational oversight and delivery, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, the Edo State Commissioner for Education, has officially rolled out the newly appointed Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) across the state’s 18 Local Government Areas.

The unveiling ceremony, which took place at the Ministry of Education’s headquarters in Benin City, marks a significant move towards reinforcing the state's commitment to quality education and effective school monitoring at the local level.

The newly appointed CIEs will play a crucial role in ensuring that educational standards are met, supervising the teaching and learning processes, and serving as vital links between the state ministry and schools in their respective LGAs.

During the event, Dr. Paddy Iyamu emphasized the essential role of the CIEs in the ongoing reform efforts under Governor Okpebholo's administration. These appointments are part of our broader vision to decentralize education management and bring accountability and innovation closer to the communities. We expect the new CIEs to be proactive, transparent, and dedicated to improving educational outcomes, he remarked.

He also reiterated the government’s firm stance against absenteeism, examination malpractice, and inadequate infrastructure in schools. “The CIEs must not only act as inspectors but also as change agents in their areas,” he added.

The appointees, who are seasoned educators and administrators from within the state’s education system, expressed their gratitude and commitment to taking on their new responsibilities.

The ceremony was attended by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Edith Ebomoyi, key officials from the Ministry of Education, representatives from the education ecosystem, and various stakeholders in the education sector.

With this initiative, the Edo State Government continues to showcase its dedication to revamping the educational sector and fostering excellence from the grassroots level.
